Artist Biography
Carmen M.Perez was born in Chicago. She and her four brothers were raised on Chicago’s north side. She graduated from Roberto Clemente High School. Ms. Perez studied art with an emphasis in sculpture and metals, as an Art Talent Scholarship recipient, at Northeastern Illinois University. She received her B.A. degree in 1985.
After graduation, Ms. Perez worked as a foundry apprentice, and as an assistant to an architectural model builder, in order to finance creating her studio and beginning her career as an artist.
Ms. Perez has been an Adult Educator for the Chicago City colleges since 1987 where she teaches in the ESL (English as a Second Language) program.
In 2002, Ms. Perez established Linea Latina Arte sales of her jewelry and sculpture.
Ms. Perez also teaches art thorough the WMG out-reach programs.
